Camp SiteFor 2022 we will be camping at Talgarth in Wales from Saturday 8th to Saturday 15th August. We will be on a new site close to the Black Mountains. The field is large, with a (fenced) stream at the bottom, the farmer is very friendly and we are pleased to be trying out a new site. There are footpaths directly from the site into the nearby village of Talgarth, and lots of walks and activities in the area. And of course, as usual, there will be plenty happening for all ages on the site. Changes to Camp Cutlery & Crockery This year each camper will need to bring their own bowl, plate, cup and some cutlery (2 spoons, 1 knife, 1 fork) as we will not be taking communal cutlery or crockery with us. Camping Chairs If you have a suitable camping chair for sitting at the table-ends, please bring it as we will also not be taking the camp chairs. This is due to saving space in our new lorry arrangements. Loos For environmental reasons we will have portaloos and washing stands. Transport of Equipment We will be not be taking the usual lorry, we have streamlined the equipment with a view to taking it in two transits. This is to reduce the burden on Gloucester, but also ourselves. We transport a lot of duplicate and redundant equipment each year so we are trialling a more streamlined setup this year. The slight downside on this is that we will need campers to help unload the equipment on both Saturday the 6th and 13th of August 2022. Although this is inconvenient, it should be a much simpler and quicker process if we have enough people. Camp Costs It has been 3 years since we last camped and the cost of running camp has increased dramatically as the price of fuel and food have increased, in addition we will have portaloos this year. The last two years have affected everyone differently so we have redesigned the payment system in the hope of spreading the burden of the increase. There will now be 3 tiers of payment, the middle payment reflects the true cost of camp, but please choose the level of payment which feels possible for you. We also still have a bursary fund for anyone who needs more support, this can be requested during the application process. Age Range Tier 1 (Subsidised) Tier 2 (Standard) Tier 3 (Supporter)
16+ £95 £120 £145
9-15 £55 £70 £85
1-8 £25 £30 £40
The cost includes all meals, campsite fees, plus communal camp equipment, transport and hire for the week. We encourage people to attend for the full week. There is no reduction if people attend part of the week only. Bursary We have a bursary fund for anyone who needs more support. This can be requested during the application process on top of the tiered structure above. Covid 19We will still have a Covid safety strategy for camp that we request all campers adhere to as there will be vulnerable and immune compromised people at camp this year and we are very keen to make sure everyone can have a safe camp.
